Michael and Rachel part II

Film lives!! I finally got the film back of Mike and Rachel's wedding. These were shot on 800 speed fujifilm which I rated at 1600 to optimize my low light shooting. BWC-a lab in Dallas that still specializes in film-push processed and scanned the negs for me. These are untouched except for making the composite images, and adding the sloppy border on the black and white.

the new 'do!

So, if you haven't noticed, I blog a lot of photos of my kids. Why? Well, they look great, are usually easy to photograph, and I typically get some great stuff. Today, though, was monumental. Why? Well just look and see...it's a boy! Ewan got his first official haircut-one in which he was long overdue (no pun intended).
Cute!

father's day

Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there. Here's a family self portrait of me and my boys. I've been wanting to do a picture like this for a while and decided today was the day. What's my favorite part about this picture? I didn't have to coax a smile.

Mr. Jerry

Probably one of the most honest portraits I've ever taken, this was photographed with my mamiya c330, processed and scanned, about three years ago. It remains one of my favorite photographs. It's composition is simple, it's subject matter is relatively the same, but if anyone has spent any time with the man, this is a scene that is familiar, from the front stoop cigarette to the yard work shorts, this photo captures the essence of Mr. Jerry, a.k.a. 'Papa' to my boys.

poolside

A friend of mine invited us over for some fun in the sun. I slapped the boys in their swim shorts and we hit the road. Some three hours later we dried off, said goodbye, and got McD's but not before I helped orchestrate this shot. Ella (on the left) didn't want any part of it, so her arms are folded in defiance!

overpass

I'll admit it, there are some things that I love to photograph that really don't make much sense. First of those are the giant air-balloon animated gimmicks that usually rest out in front of car lots. You've seen them: the giant Elvis sporting a banner that might say, "Rockin' good deals!" or some other cheesy phrase. Or even Godzilla atop a sporting goods store touting: "Monster Sale!" Second of those are overpasses. I really think they are cool both visually and physically. In DFW they have 'mix masters' where several major highways convene at once and it's layer upon layer of heightened road suspended several hundred feet in the air-awesome. Anyway, I got out last night to scout out a location for a photograph I've been wanting to take and took some like this instead.

Lucas and Jessica

This is a bit old, but there may be some of you who haven't seen it. Jessica and Lucas got married not too long ago, and in fact was one of the first wedding composites I put together and have been using it for a post-card like business card. Anyway, hopefully I'll have some new stuff up soon. Thanks for checking back.

Michael and Rachel

Here are some highlights from Mike and Rachel's wedding. I'm still waiting for some film to come back from the lab, so this is just part one. I was going to try and hold out, but I was itching to post some new material. I really had a great time shooting their wedding and want to thank them for letting be a part of it. Check back by mid week and hopefully I'll have even some more pics. Congrats!
