sub-statues

I'm sure there's a story to these little sculptures that were scattered about the subway station we were at, unfortunately I don't know it. I have a clue to what they may represent, but I won't speculate here, I will just post them for your viewing pleasure and you can take them for what they are. Cute little New York people.

mr. chairman

I hope everyone has enjoyed some scenes from NY. I've got a couple posts left and then I think it's time to move on to other subject matter. I've got some engagements and a bridal shoot coming up just around the corner that I'm really excited about.
Today's post falls into that cliche category of some of the weird stuff one finds while walking through such a diverse city. Yeah, I didn't ask why he was wearing a chair, he actually looked to be in quite a bit of a hurry, so I just focused my camera and shot.

tiles

While riding a bus across town we ran into these tiles that kids decorated in memory of their moms and dads and all those who died in the two towers. Everyone has their favorites, but the shot as a whole made more of an impact.

china town

A typical day in chinatown. Even though the sheer crowd of people that forced themselves on the streets here are not well represented (there at the bottom of the photo) I still love this shot because of the composition.

tree house

So, today a little break from New York City and back to the ol' Louisiana project. A project still near and dear to my heart that I'm still working towards. This shot, taken on the outskirts of Livingston caught my eye one day. I love this house and the trees that seemingly have grown and become a part of it; taken with my holga...love that camera.

the city from brooklyn

The view of Manhattan at night from across the water in Brooklyn.

firehouse

One night we went by ground zero to see the actual site and visit the 9/11 museum. This is a shot of the firehouse that still stands nearby the site. It was night and dark outdoors, but all the better for this photo taken from outside the building. I really like this shot.

the skating rink

A view from central park of the city that ends abruptly at it's border. From here it was like watching a movie screen, standing outside of the city, looking at the view movie cameras film for us before the story that takes place within it's streets, alleys, restaurants, and apartments unfolds. This photo is surreal for me.

the empire state building

One of my favorites taken of the building during the trip and with the Holga. The colors are just perfect, the tilted angle, a perfect view of the building. Greatness.

greenwich village

Street level. Greenwich village, New York. Circa January, 2009. It was a clear, brisk, afternoon. We were headin' to John's Pizzeria, the best pizza pie in town...

central park

As promised: Holga pictures! Here's the first-a nice, crisp, cold, creepy day in central park. More to come.
