toy stories

So, I have this idea see, but I kinda' wanted to carry it out differently. At first, these photos were planned to be taken with my Altoids pinhole camera, but due to some adverse conditions and unforeseen difficulties the pinhole camera has been put in the shop for tweaks and repairs. So, I decided to break out the next best thing: my lensbaby! I haven't exercised it in a while so today I did some of the concept shots I had reserved for the pinhole. Plus I have been itching to finally post something of interest on the blog...so here ya' go!
Let's just pretend I stumbled upon a time machine, these are some of the shots I would imagine I could grab. Anyway, they were fun. We'll see what happens next!

not busy

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while but truth be known, I haven't really been shooting. It's been raining and overcast for the past few days and last night Texas had these huge storms pass through-not exactly picturesque conditions. But I've got some things on the horizon that will be published here soon. I've got a destination engagement in May, a wedding in June, as well as some architecture to capture. So sit tight, hopefully I'll have some new material for you soon. Until then, thanks for checking back.

christ chapel

Christ Chapel is an old church that's been made new. Within the past year they've added on a huge new sanctuary to their old building. Anyway, I decided to take a few shots maybe for the architectural project I'm progressively working on. This one I thought looked especially...gothic. Maybe more modern classic.

encore!

Okay, here are the pics i tried to post last night. I finally got the film back (i know right: who shoots film?) that I took of the ROCK SHOW I posted just a little while back. I thought I'd share just a few more frames.

uh...sorry no pics...

I would have posted a new pic today, but my blog won't let me upload any new photos... I guess there's a bug in the system. So, sorry guys, but check back again maybe tomorrow.

boys will be boys

This was taken a while back when I first got my Lensbaby-a lens that lets you focus just on one part of the image. The chalk drawings are actually my son's, but I placed his shoes there in order to get the play set in the background. At the time my thought process was to capture images that reminded me of summer, and this image pretty much does the job.

the window

With nothing really new to post, I usually resort back to my photography project on Louisiana. Well, here I go again. This truck was found next to the Oldsmobile I posted not too long ago. The back window was busted and I actually took this shot through there. My purpose for shooting these images of Louisiana is simple: I'm trying to present the state, and more specifically the parish I grew up in, in a way that is telling of it's weird charm. Of course it's hard to present the big picture on this blog-posting a picture here and there-but when I'm through I hope people can get a broad idea of what it's like to grow up in a state where just down the street could be a mansion, or a mobile home.

Happy Easter!

Just a few of my favs from the day.

rock show!

This is not the official Easter post...I just didn't get to post these until early this morning. Last night in honor of Raleigh Smith's 30th birthday he threw himself a ROCK SHOW. Of course we all attended looking forward to nothing but friends, drinks, and of course ROCK!

Here's Raleigh now.

You can't ROCK without fans...
They did a Ramones cover...
One of the singers needed help with the lyrics...
but they soon thought better of it and did away with them completely.

Happy Birthday Raleigh.

painting paris

I'm painting a Paris scenic background for the studio I work for. Here's the beginnings of it. I've painted several backgrounds for the studio, but this is my first muslin. Anyway, not a very interesting pic, but just another peek into the life of this photographer.

out on the pond

Another from my series on Louisiana. This was taken during my last trip when I realized that besides junk cars and trailer homes, quite a few people have these man made ponds in their yards and boats to float in them. A lot of people stock these ponds with fish and it brings the great outdoor right to your back porch!
