josh

Josh, a local musician-and friend, is getting ready to release a new album and called me recently for some possible cover shots. So, always eager to get behind the camera, of course I said yes and we hit to the streets. The idea was to convey independence, a sense of change, maybe a little more edge, but letting the focus be on him and whatever avenues that are before him. So we did some shots near overpasses and roadways to sort of illustrate that idea. But, when the shoot was nearing an end, I really wanted to get some extreme close ups of him. Well, we should of just started there. I love the images. I only put one up on the blog, not because it is the best-that's a matter of opinion-but because each close up conveyed the same statement. I love this picture because it is such a strong image; he's looking right into the camera, right into your eyes, and you in turn have no choice but to look back. It works in a million different ways and no matter how you look at it, it's Josh.

the house

A new coffee shop is about to brew up something bold on the Fort Worth scene, and you should go get a cup from them! The House Coffee Bar, located at 915 Florence St. downtown (www.thehousecoffeebar.com), has their grand opening this Thursday from 11:30a.m. to 1:00p.m. They'll be serving up fresh coffee and paninis as well as live music, art, and massages...oooh-OH! right there...yeah... aaaaaaah. So what are you waiting for? Oh and one quick note: don't forget to wash your hands before you eat, because my work is on display in their bathrooms! I don't want to catch you with your pants down, but Ani Difranco sings, "Sometimes there's poetry written right on the bathroom wall." After you see my work, hopefully you'll agree.

sportstar

Although we try to saturate the kids in the arts, you can't keep a guy from loving sports. So, we enrolled Aidan in basketball this year. The little guy did pretty good, scoring a goal here and there, really hustling up and down the court. Here's some pics we took off the court.

rockstar

Had the idea for these photos for the past month or so, finally got the chance to carry it out. I love it when I get an idea, then get to really flesh it out. These came out exactly how I imagined them.

ashley and neal

I've never shot at the water gardens down town, so when Lazer (aka: Ashley) and Neal asked me too, I of course said yes-but had my reservations about the location it being so monochromatic (at times) and angular. But I was completely wrong, and their engagement session proves it! I love every shot, but I don't want to give them all away, so here's a few favs.

did anyone say, "mineral wells?"

Ah! Mineral Wells, my favorite Texas town of old with it's runned down everything and random miscellaneous stuff that one finds just driving through town. A documentary photographer's dream. Here's a shot take recently when I was working in the small town. Three crosses...one a little more rugged than the other, an overcast cold, windy day-and my lens baby (let's go make some pictures)!

jenny and john, engagements

Jenny and John are engaged! Here's more (as promised) from their engagement session we did at Cityview Lanes off of Oakmont Blvd. A hot spot for them, they bowl every week, so we asked why not take some engagements there? I love the blue aquatic background, great for the colors they were wearing, and a quick thanks to the lanes for letting me shoot in their alley, I appreciate it!
