I'm not one for taking photography and making it look like an oil painting of the ye ol' masters, but this photo sort of lended itself towards it. So, I put a little bit of a painterly, softness to this photograph of my mother's 'reading spot' in her home.

A recent, quick trip to Louisiana always, always, always presents opportunities for photographs; like my mother's home, which is filled to the brim with trinkets, county home decor, odds and ends, antiquities, toys, trussles, tricks, tom-foolery and the like. bench n boots
There are so many photos I've done the past few years...many of those that'll never make it in the final book I'm working toward. So, why not post some outtakes? Like this one of my Dad's boots, and where they're always kept: upside down on the back porch, squeezed between the bench and the wall. A slight bit of humor and a slight bit of home all wrapped up in one photo. That's why I do what I do.

remains
It's been a while since I've posted anything having to do with my Louisiana project. So I dove into the folder on my computer marked 'louisiana' and came up with something. This old vacant chimney's only companion is a wisteria tree that is slowly climbing up and over it. I took several of pictures of this chimney at various angles and liked this one the best. Since it's covered in vine and bush and greenery, the other angles made it hard to tell what it was. But, a little mystery isn't all that bad is it?

Took a quick trip to Monroe, Louisiana to visit an old friend of the family. Her land stops at the edge of a huge lake (they actually live on an island) so, the boys and I took to cane fishin' and this is what was bitin':
