sundance 11

This will probably be my last post from my little morning spent in Fort Worth; sundance eleven movie theater. This shot tells a lot about the architecture found in Fort Worth, and I'm not an architecture major, nor am I really good with art history, but I've always wanted to get this shot, standing across the street from the theater. Three buildings, three different architecture designs, perfect blue sky, resulting in a really cool shot. It's very blocky and-if I had an architecture lens-this would be perfect.

reflections of fort worth

Not too long ago I posted a picture of down town Dallas buildings reflected and warped by the windows of another building. Well, that photograph now graces my business cards. This photograph was taken with the same idea in mind, so it's nothing conceptually new, but still a cool pic!

down an alley

Another photo from down town Fort Worth. If you walk down this little alley way, a small little courtyard greets you with rod iron tables and chairs and umbrellas and little back doors to shops and restaurants. It quaint and cozy, and right smack in the middle of down town. Anyway, this shot presented itself...

urban landscape

Hey Conner, this post is for you-I know how you like my photos of architecture and buildings.

I took a morning and just walked downtown Fort Worth for some urban landscape shots for the studio I work for. I was looking for mostly things to use as a backdrop in the studio. The artist in me still tends to take over from time to time and there are some photos that I just couldn't pass up, such as this minimalist approach to urban landscape photography. I tried to look at it in black and white, but (a rare case) I thought the image had more impact in color.

dandelion

One of the coolest things about a macro lens is pulling off shots like this! I love this thing...not that I have much use for it, but when it's needed, it delivers! Anyway, just a weed in the backyard, but I've always wanted to get this close to a dandelion for a photo. It's weeds turned wall art!

slideshow

I've been working on an image slide show for a promotional thing to give to clients or couples interested in my work. Well, I threw this little slide show together of Katherine and Raleigh's wedding just for fun to post here for all to see. I hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think. Oh, and the band is called 'band of horses' and they're really good.

bayou birds

Right before I get on the interstate to head north towards home (driving home from Louisiana) there's a little marsh area with those trees you always see in photographs and pictures when people are trying to capture the essence of a Louisiana bayou. Well, as I was leaving town I happened to look to my right and saw about two dozen of these cranes or egrets (I'm not quite sure) scattered throughout the trees along the highway. I passed them first, turned around, and hopped out of the car to get this shot. Technically, it's not perfect, it was hand held and shaky, but I couldn't miss the opportunity. Even this photograph really doesn't capture the number of the birds that were there, but it'll give you an idea. I just thought it was cool to see so many birds just hanging out, yards away from a busy, backwoods highway.

bass pro shop

I realize I may be revealing a little more of myself than I should, but-yes-on my recent trip home to Louisiana I visited the new Outdoor World a.k.a. the new huge Bass Pro Shop that recently opened near my hometown. I will also confess another truth: it really is an amazing building...for those of you that may hunt or fish or do other outdoorsy things.

I find this funny: ducks flying away from a giant word reading "HUNT".
I stared down this wild boar, and won.
This is a mountain lion I captured on my most recent hiking trip (ignore the exit sign).
The place is covered with mounted animals, all surrealy placed in the midst of clothes, shoppers, fishing gear, outdoor grills, etc.

Aahhh, nothing better to bring families together than the bass pro shop. I hope you enjoyed my small photographic tour.

i love lamp

There was just something so simple and poetic about a grungy old lamp post with a beautiful, simple, sky in the background complete with big puffy clouds. I had to share...
